I just want to know if this means "you have to clean it." I don't get the ending in "telo". "Tienes que lavártelo"

Tienes que lavártelo

Sounds like it to me, when the lo is something like a body part or something you are specifically washing for your own benefit.

Think te lavas el pelo= You wash your hair, then te lo lavas. You wash it.

Then tienes que lavártelo= te lo tienes que lavar= you have to wash it.

Now if it was your car- normally- Lavas tu coche- lo lavas- tienes que lavarlo.

My opinion as a fellow learner, await other input.

This all looks good to me. :) However there are some situations that some speakers make reflexive when it really isn't necessary. - Daniela2041, Feb 5, 2017
That is why I added the or washing it for your own benefit. If you want to emphasize that. :) - bosquederoble, Feb 5, 2017
