I've seen hambre written in both the masculine and feminine forms. Which is it?

Spanishdict shows hambre (f) and then gives the example, el hambre.

Thanks for the clarification

"Hambre" is feminine, but feminine nouns that begin with a stressed "a" sound take a masculine definite article.

Exactamente. - Daniela2041, Jan 18, 2017
To add, you would say el hambre, un hambre, algĂșn or alguna hambre (no one agrees, I think technically alguna is correct), but mucha hambre, definitely not mucho hambre. - bosquederoble, Jan 19, 2017
And if you stick something in between "la gran hambre". It is only el when it is next to hambre. :) - bosquederoble, Jan 19, 2017
All adjectives to follow must be feminine as well. :) - bosquederoble, Jan 19, 2017
