Cuestion Cultural de un Cuento
Amigos, I just read a story about a little ant whose mouse husband dies... and the animals who hear her crying hurt themselves to be in sympathy! (One bird cuts her beak, another trims her tail, a little girl breaks her water jug.) My question: What is the point of that?! Is there a lesson in this? If so, what is the cultural more or value that I am not comprehending???? Is this an Hispanic/Latin thing, that you can only comfort someone if you understand their hurt?

Im not so certain about this, but Ill try my best to explain. Im thinking of pilgrims who make a journey to a holy place on their hands and knees or pierce their bodies with large needles in order to suffer for their idol as their idol suffered for them. Its homage and respect, in my mind.
