Fitness goals part 1

I have to write about my new years resolution, which I chose to be fitness. If anyone could please help me out and offer advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Es necesario que haga ejercicios. Ejercicio mantiene el salud para del cuerpo. Muchas gentes quieren estar en forma. Es un reto, pero una persona con determinación tendrá éxito. Hay muchas technologicas y gentes prefiría quedarse sus casas. Este a?o, quiero estar un atleta.

Primero, quiero estar fuerte. Asistiré mi local gimnasio porque es barato. Necesitaré levantar pesas, pero empezaré con pesas ligero. Tambian me gusta biceps grande, entonces haga planchas. Si tengo tiempo que perder, haga mis adominables.

What I am trying to say:

It is necessary to exercise. Exercise maintains the health of the body. Many people want to stay in shape. It is a challenge, but a person with determination will have success. There is a lot of technology, and people prefer to stay in their houses. This year I want to be an athlete.

First, I want to be strong. I will attend my local gym because ti's cheap. I will be necessary to lift weights, but I will begin with light weights. Also I like big biceps, so I will do push-ups. If i have time to lose, I will work my abs.

If there is a mistake please try to keep the sentence idea somewhat similar. Thanks once again!

Okay here is the second paragraph. You can see from the time between postings that correcting even one paragraph takes a fair amount of effort.

Primero, quiero estar fuerte.

Fuerte is a characteristic, not a condition, in Spanish, just like being fat is. One could argue the reality of that assumption, but that is not how Spanish speakers use their language. Primero, quiero ser fuerte.

Asistiré mi local gimnasio porque es barato.

Asistir a- so it needs to be "Asistiré a mi local gimnasio porque es barato".

I would have written: Iré al gimnasio local porque es económico".

Necesitaré levantar pesas, pero empezaré con pesas ligero.

Your English is off, I will need to lift weights. The sentence sounds okay except you didn't match ligero to pesas. I might have used tendré que instead of necesitaré. Tendré que levantar pesas, pero empezaré con pesas ligeras.

Tambian me gusta biceps grande, entonces haga planchas.

Again, general noun, plural, misspelled bíceps and También. Haga is not correct, i would use por eso not entonces. I use flexiones for pushups. También me gustan los bíceps grandes, por eso haré flexiones.

Si tengo tiempo que perder, haga mis adominables.

Time to lose in English sounds odd to me. Time to waste, time to burn, time to kill is how I would translate tiempo que perder. Haga again is wrong. Abdominales is misspelled and I would not use mis. Si tengo tiempo que perder, haré abdominales. Or Si tengo tiempo suficiente, haré abdominales.

Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it man - Hoyobro, Jan 8, 2017
Phenomenal job Bosque! I have a question about biceps, how come in Spanish, it isn't bicepes? I thought words ending in a consonant add -es to form their plural forms - Ramonaspiker, Jan 8, 2017
It is invariable. El bíceps, los bíceps. :) - bosquederoble, Jan 8, 2017
Oh right! Thanks Bosque! :) - Ramonaspiker, Jan 8, 2017
Impresionante. ¡Güau! Are you sure you're not a native speaker? You are better than a lot of teachers I know. - Daniela2041, Jan 9, 2017
Thanks, Daniela. The mistakes I make in Spanish are non-native mistakes, I think the ones I make in English are native ones. Although sometimes either just look plain dumb. :) - bosquederoble, Jan 9, 2017

Thanks you for shortening this. I can only do one paragraph at a time, I will post the first now.

Es necesario que haga ejercicios.

Probably technically correct for usted, but I always see hacer ejercicio in the singular. To match your English you could simply say: Es necesario hacer ejercicio. For informal: Es necesario que hagas ejercicio. It is necessary that you (informal) exercise.

Ejercicio mantiene el salud para del cuerpo.

General nouns as subjects in Spanish need the article: El ejercicio. Para del- in order to of the. Makes no sense to stick two prepositions together that way (occasionally it does but not here). I like: El ejercicio mantiene el la salud del cuerpo.

Muchas gentes quieren estar en forma.

Gente is singular even though it refers to people which we consider plural, but we treat crowd or group as singular so it is the same idea. Mucha gente quiere estar en forma.

Es un reto, pero una persona con determinación tendrá éxito.

Sounds okay to me I think. I might have written una persona que tiene determinación, but that is probably just me.

Hay muchas technologicas y gentes prefiría quedarse sus casas.

Tecnológico is an adjective. Tecnología is the noun. I don't know if you mean "aparatos tecnológicos". La gente, singular, general noun. Quedarse en (su) casa. Prefería is would prefer, prefiere is prefer. Hay muchos aparatos tecnológicos y la gente prefiere quedarse en casa. Or Hay mucha tecnología y la gente prefiere quedarse en casa.

Este a?o, quiero estar un atleta

Accent año correctly. Ser atleta. Normally without a modifier, to mean "a" something (in general), there is no article in Spanish. You use ser, even if it is not your main thing in life, or only temporary, it is considered a defining characteristic, not a condition. Este año, quiero ser atleta.
