What does the word "gongo" mean in Spanish?

This is from a Luis Pales Matos poem " golpes secos de gongo, gritos, y un crudo canto"

It means "gong".

I saw that in one of the translations, but it didn't make sense in context of the poem, but since it's ;poetry it doesn't always have to make sense. - donrono, Jan 4, 2017
