La Palabra Del Día "lanzarse"
lanzarse ( lahn-sahr'-seh )
verb ( to undertake, to embark upon )
Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.
Guidelines:
Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Hace unos años me lanzé a aprender español y todavía voy a las clases y trato de practicar todos los días. Es más difícil de lo que me di cuenta.
Some years ago I embarked on learning Spanish and I still go to classes and try to practice each day. It is more difficult than I realised.

Day 2
¡Colin se lanzó un proyecto para organizar (arreglar) su casa en enero 2017, pero sus vecinos preocupados de al lado llamaron a la policía después* de cuatro semanas y les dijeron que la última vez que le vieron, fue enterrado debajo de un montón de papeles! ![]()
Perhaps: cuatro semanas más tarde* would be better (?)
Editor's note/s: I have decided to intentionally include a series of 5 pictures to show the sequence (progression) of events from Colin's first day until his unfortunate disappearnce! I hope that have succeeded in injecting some gentle humour into a situation that is common to many of us ...being (or feeling) overwhelmed by mounatins of paperwork! The moral of my caption is: 'Look before you leap! (picture 2) Seriosuly, before attempting to deal with paperwork, please don't take on too much at once or warn your friends and family and keep your phone close to you in case you get lost lol! ![]()

Anoche mi esposa y yo vimos el balón descendió en Nueva York a las nueve en CNN, y le dije que fue el mismo descenso que iba íbamos a ver en ABC a la medianoche, y me preguntó cómo podía ser. Le dije que tenía algo que ver con la relatividad y viaje a través del tiempo, y me dijo que podía ser que la botella de champán se lanzara contra mi cabeza, pero por fin decidió que era más importante que algún champán se quedaran para la medianoche.
Last night my wife and I watched the ball descend in New York at nine on CNN, and I told her that it was the same descent we were going to see on ABC at midnight, and she asked me how that could be. I told her it had something to do with relativity and time travel, and she told me that the bottle of champagne might be launched against my head, but in the end decided that it was more important that some champagne remain for midnight.
