There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Me he comprometido a ir a una película con mi esposa esta semana, todo lo que queda es elegir qué película, y a qué hora verla.

I have promised to go to a movie with my wife this week, all that is left is to choose what movie, and at what time to see it.

I haven't seen it, but I hear Rogue One is a great movie. - rac1, Dec 28, 2016
Unfortunately I could not find the perfect picture. The actual choices are Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, and Passengers. I am hoping she does not choose the last. Assassin's Creed would not be for her. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 28, 2016
Happy viewing :-)! - Jraider, Dec 28, 2016
This is possibly a US/ UK English difference... I'd say "which movie". Not a correction, just interesting! - lenina, Dec 30, 2016
Which movie is probably more correct, I admit to being influenced by Spanish (there are those who would use cuál there, but I am not one). I also use double negatives frequently, but cringe when anyone uses good as an adverb. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 30, 2016

whilst i wholly agree with the English sentence, does it really translate as'compromise' ? I find 'hacer concesiones ' , transigir or even ceder as translations for compromise? Sorry, I just want to be certain! - lenina, Dec 30, 2016

En la religión católica, una monja postulante tiene que comprometerse a ser "novia y esposa" de Jesucristo por toda la vida.

In the Catholic religion a postulant nun has to commit herself to be "bride" and "spouse" to Jesus Christ for the rest of her life.

(Note: I am not advocating this--just trying to find a statement to illustrate the word of the day.) It does happen to be the truth, and God bless the girls who can do this.

Wecome to La Palabra Del Día. We all need to do that. :) - rac1, Dec 30, 2016
It doesn't look that bad to me- I would have said al día where you said diarios, and put en in front of general, but as a non-native it is hard to say what is just how I would do it vs. what is actually wrong. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 30, 2016
Thank you. :) - lenina, Dec 31, 2016
