There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Disfruto escuchando villancicos mientras lamo bastones de caramelo.

I enjoy listening to Christmas carols while I lick candy canes.

Es interesante que "villancico" ha llegado a significar "Christmas carol", como originalmente un "villancico" era una canción profana de un cierto tipo, y sólo más tarde se usaba para temas religiosos, y los puristas dicen que algo que no tiene un tema religioso no es un "Christmas carol", sino simplemente una canción de Navidad.

It is interesting that "villancico" has come to mean "Christmas carol", as originally a "villancico" was a secular song of a certain type, and only later was it used for religious themes, and the purists say that something that does not have a religious theme is not a "Christmas carol", but rather simply a Christmas song.

Jingle bell

Los villancicos navideñas son canciones populares y los niños disfrutan mucho de cantar ellos.

Christmas carols are popular songs and children enjoy very much singing them.

No estoy seguro que sea un villancico, pero mi canción favorita de la temporada es "El Tiempo de Navidad Está Aquí."

I'm not sure that it is a carol, but my favorite song of the season is "Christmas Time is Here."

Es difícil elegir my villancico favorito, pero soy parcial a la interpretacion de Pequeño Tamborilero de Bing Crosby y David Bowie.

It is difficult to choose my favorite Christmas carol, but I am partial to Bing Crosby and David Bowie's rendition of Little Drummer Boy.
