"If you fear something bad has happened"

How does this mean something bad. I don't see a word that means bad or harmful.

"La haya" confuses me

Where did you get the sentence, and the translation, and what is the larger context. It is hard to answer without that. It does not say fear something bad has happened. It says fear something has happened. - bosquederoble, Dec 24, 2016
But do you fear something good has happened. I would have expected "le haya" in which case it would be easy to translate for me. It could be laísmo, but it could be something I am not advanced enough to understand. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 24, 2016

Even in English people say things like,

"If anything/something happens to me then-----(whatever)"

The inference is "something bad."

The "la" is incorrect, however, it should be "le." If you took this from a novel or short story, it could be showing how someone from a certain area says things.
