How to say a person is a Rock

I'm writing a speech in Spanish and during my speech I refer to my mother as being a "Rock" by which I mean she was wonderful support and grounded and always there for me and my sister but how would I say that in Spanish that would imply the same meaning, I don't think "Mi Madre era un roca" really works or implies the correct meaning. Any ideas anyone?

Why not use a different sentence to convey the same meaning in English , a rock may not mean the same in the whole English speaking world . - ray76, Dec 13, 2016

I am a learner, but I think this relates to a biblical reference and can work as roca in Spanish. it might be better mi/nuestra roca rather than una roca though.

A link to provide options:

Additional Translations

English Spanish

rock n figurative (point of stability) (figurado) roca nf

apoyo nm

My brother is my rock. Mi hermano es mi roca. Mi hermano es mi apoyo.

Argentina- Spanish

Sí, coincido con Enrique, muchos dicen "eres mi roca". Y si quieres dar el sentido puedes decir "eres mi sostén" o "mi refugio" o "fortaleza.

Espero que te sirva

Await other input as well please.
