Se dice ser
I used a meme today to support my answer to a question:
Usé un meme hoy para respaldar mi respuesta a una pregunta:
"Ella se dice ser mi amiga."
The grammar of this is not something I would have known to use. I have always used "se dice que...."
No sabría utilizar este uso de la gramática. Siempre he usado "se dice que..."
My thought is that this makes it:
Mi idea es que esto significa:
"She tells herself (she thinks/believes) that she is my friend."
As opposed to:
En lugar de:
"Se dice que (ella) es mi amiga." "It is said that she is my friend."
But:
Pero:
"Ella se dice que es mi amiga"
would have been my guess for how to express "she tells herself that she is my friend". Even though there is no subject change.
habría sido mi suposición para cómo expresar " she tells herself that she is my friend". Aunque no hay un cambio de sujeto.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

the meme is wrong. . It must be: "ella dice ser mi amiga" without the "se" it has the same meaning of :" ella dice que es mi amiga" but with the nuance that what she is saying it is something strange , rare or incredible for us.
El meme es erróneo, Debería ser: "Ella dice ser mi amiga" sin el "se". . tiene el mismo significado que: "ella dice que es mi amiga" pero con el pequeño matiz de que lo que dice nos resulta , raro, chocante o inverosímil.
el dice ser médico, el presume de ser médico pero yo no me lo creo( I don´t belive it)
another way to construct this kind of sentence using "se" would be
"ella se dice mi amiga" but is a weird way of being in disuse
I think its's similar to the English "She is said to be my friend." Or even "She is supposed to be my friend, but I don't know her."
That's what I get out of it. It is an unusual construction. I have found other "strange" grammatical constructions in these memes. Some are just plain wrong.
