Saying "Let's (verb)"

Question

I was wondering if you can say the nosotros subjunctive form of any verb in order to say "Let's (do the verb". For example, Let's eat - comamos, Let's say - digamos. Is this correct?

Comamos ,digamos as let's eat, let's say aren't the sudjuntive form they are the imperative form.

Sudjuntive .

I think we will not eat it.

Imperative.

Let's ea,t the soup is cooling.

Comamos, la sopa se está enfriando. Or vamos a comer, la sopa se está enfriando.

They both are sort of right. But used differently. The soup is cooling, we will eat it in a little while. Let's eat now the soup is getting cold. - bosquederoble, Dec 2, 2016

Cooling seems to me more like it is something you want in that sentence, and getting cold like it has gone too far. But there probably are other contexts where it is not. - bosquederoble, Dec 2, 2016

We have two options in this case, since the command is affirmative. We either use the imperative (same conjugation as present subjunctive), or the ir + a + infinitive combination. Therefore, we can either say "vamos a comer," or "comamos" in order to say "let's eat."

However, if your command were negative, you would only have one option - the present subjunctive version. You would then say "No comamos" to say "Let's not eat."
