palangre meaning

I have read the threads on "palangre" but they did not answer my question. In the fish market at Sant Antoni, there is one particular fish that is always advertised "palangre." I know it means caught with a long line (rather than a net), but there is ONLY one type of fish that is called this name at every stall at this particular market. It is long and skinny, like a big eel; its meat is white and very tasty. The fish is silver and has very sharp little teeth like a bluefish. When I asked several vendors its name, they kept telling me "palangre." Any ideas?
