Rewriting a paragraph using direct indirect object pronounds. Please help.

Question

El narrador miraba la tele cuando oyó un estruendo. Investigó el estruendo. Una masa de papel agonizaba en el suelo. Cogió la masa de papel. Notó un título y leyó el título: se trataba de Crimen y Castigo. La noche siguiente, la novela Anna Karenina se había suicidado. El narrador había descubierto la novela Anna Karenina en el suelo también. Al principio fueron los clásicos. Siguieron a los clásicos los de filosofía. Había noches de suicidios colectivos, pero el narrador no comprendía los suicidios colectivos. Una noche no encendió la televisión. Los libros no se suicidaron porque él vigiló atentamente los libros.

I have to rewrite the paragraph above using direct and indirect object pronouns and I have a general idea, but i'm very confused at this point. I don't even know where to start here, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I will give it my best guess. I would assume repeated nouns where it is obvious from context what they are are supposed to be changed to pronouns.

For example:

El narrador miraba la tele cuando oyó un estruendo. Investigó el estruendo.

The narrator was watching TV when he heard a crash. He investigated the crash.

Here the first sentence gives the background- the second what he did in response. El estruendo is repetitive, so I would change it to a pronoun.

El narrador miraba la tele cuando oyó un estruendo. Lo investigó.

The narrator was watching TV when he heard a crash. He investigated it.

I would imagine they want the entirety done in that same way. We will not do the whole thing for you, you need to learn from doing it.
