Sabia la solución

Sabia la solución

Hello!

I'm writing with, I hope, my last question about imperfecto. Is this okay?

I want to say that I knew the solution of the excersise, but I didn't write it on the test.

*Sabía la solución, pero la no escribí

I used "sabia" here because it something "During the test, when I was in a process of writing it "I was knowing" the solution" so it's a kind of an unfinished action.

Thanks!

I know what you are getting at, but one would never say, "I was knowing." - rac1, Oct 25, 2016

Correct because "supe" means "I found out / discovered".

So generally speaking - use of a specific tense very often changes the meaning of the verb, with state verbs like know, think etc. right? - Matty08, Oct 26, 2016
