Hey. I am reading a text for my spanish class tomorrow, and this sentence confuses me:

... El más veterano, fundado en 1990, arrancó el pasado día 10 con una rica programación de producciones...

Does this mean it began 10 days ago? Can anyone explain?

Thanks smile

I see this as an attempt:

Does this mean it began 10 days ago?

I believe it means the past tenth (ie the past tenth of whatever month it is- eg this month it would be the past tenth of October)

10 days ago I think would normal be hace diez días.

See here- many examples, although admittedly the vast majority include the month name.

I am a fellow learner. Please wait for other input as well.

i agree. I´ve never seen this kind of wording, it´s more common to say: "el día 10 del mes pasado" - 005faa61, Oct 23, 2016

El pasado día 10 means the tenth day of the month that was in progress.

It's a common way to say it – but I'm not sure how widely used in other Spanish countries.
