Racha Buena?
Our professor told us that "racha" for "streak" is only really used with a negative connotation. Is there another word for such as a winning streak or how would that generally be said?

racha either adopts a positive or negative connotation.
- Que se acabe luego esta mala racha para encontrar trabajo.
- Sigo en racha porque aún no repruebo ramos.
Your professor no doubt has a far better grasp of Spanish than I do, but I have heard buena racha and racha de suerte from native speakers. A "winning streak" in particular would be a racha ganadora.
I agree with the other answers. Just two examples.
Estoy en racha. Positive connotation.
Vaya racha llevo. Negative connotation
