Calling someone a jerk

I want to describe someone as a jerk in Spanish, but withot being vulgar. I've found translations as "burro" and "asno," but it doesn't say whether the words are considered crude. (It's for a composition in a class, and my Spanish teacher is a sensitive soul.) Can you help'

I'll definitely use "menso" I really love that word, it is kind of sweet and rude at the same time...

You could also use the word pesado.

I think imbécil is used in that meaning, although the dictionary defines it as synonymous with the English imbecile. I have heard it used in situations where "jerk" would fit perfectly.
