This is from another poem by Luis Pales Matos. "Desde la hora del cantio, cuado dispielta el becerro". Spanish Dict did not provide a meaning and I couldn't find one in google either.

Why do you refuse to give your language details ? Show the same respect that we give to you. - ray76, Oct 13, 2016
It seems that you don't bother reading the comments I make. As I've told you before, at the time I registered with Spanish Dict I didn't have the option of giving those language details and I still don't this is an issue you should take up with the staff - donrono, Oct 13, 2016

It's actually despierta.

Puerto rican people tend to substitute R with L. (I don't know if everyone does that, so I'm guessing you'll have to wait another answer.)

i had thought of that, but that's the way the author wrote it down, so I think ti might be an "old school" word that's very seldom used anymore. You have to take into account the author wrote this in between 1915-1916. - donrono, Oct 12, 2016
Actually, I consulted with a poet friend of mine from Puerto Rico, and he says the poet was imitating the way the jibaros speak in Puerto Rico, so he purposely misspelled the word despierta. - donrono, Oct 14, 2016
