Site Speed and Ads

The site keeps buffering, and it makes it hard to get a perfect score. I think it might be all the ads. Is it at all possible that they could be removed when doing lessons or flashcards. I would really appreciate it if something could be done about the site's speed, and the number of ads. Thank you!

I too have an issue with the ads Justin. For me it's not so much regular buffering but occasional hanging or "this site has caused shockwave to crash" errors. I only ever strike this when on SD and am 99% sure it is caused by the ads. I'm not worried about the presence or number of ads as such (SD has to survive) but it would be good if someone in the techy department could look into why SD's ads are causing browser issues (assuming they are).

Thanks jellonz. I agree that someone should look at it. Is there anyway I could contact someone in charge? - 003251c5, Oct 3, 2016
When the window is maximized, there is a gray feedback tab on the right edge somewhere near the middle. :) - bosquederoble, Oct 3, 2016
I do flashcards on systems that have ad block and that don't, I get buffering that knocks out the listening (it does not say the word until the seconds are counting down, usually 9 , but sometimes as low as 7). - bosquederoble, Oct 3, 2016
You could try adblock and see if it helps, but it doesn't completely resolve it for me, and in that I don't see a difference. I use the adblock to prevent the audiovideo ones that suddenly pop up and startle and distract me in the midst of flashcards. - bosquederoble, Oct 3, 2016
I tried adblock once Bosque and I recall it working to some degree, but I found some sites have a kind of adblock-blocker that prevents them working at all so I removed it in the end :) - jellonz, Oct 3, 2016
That's a shame too. I use it and have 0 problems. I use Google, maybe that's the difference. - rac1, Oct 3, 2016
Addblocking is the only way to fly mate. - ray76, Oct 4, 2016
Thanks Rac and Ray. I'll give it another whirl. - jellonz, Oct 4, 2016
As an afterthought. If the ads are causing such problems that people have to use adblocker, it would surely behoove SD and/or the advertisers to sort the issue and ensure more ads are seen. - jellonz, Oct 4, 2016
Also make sure that you do not have too many windows open at the same time , your own speed is a great contributing factor. - ray76, Oct 4, 2016
Where would I find an adblock, without directly having to purchase something? - 003251c5, Oct 4, 2016
Can't speak for other browsers, but chrome offers several free blockers at their store. HOWEVER just tried 2 and the first thing that SD's home page told me was to disable my adblocker because it interferes with the site :( - jellonz, Oct 5, 2016
