verb ( to shiver, to tremble )

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Cuando tuve la malaria empecé a tiritar mucho, pero no porque el tiempo era frío

A tritar es una característica de la enfermedad.

Estoy tiritando ya mirando a esta foto, y si debiera andar allí , me pusiera llorar.

I'm shivering even looking at this picture, and if I should go there, I would weep.

Era el invierno. Había nieve en la tierra. La batalla estaba para estallar. El soldado tiritaba por el frío, y por el temor que sentía.

It was winter. There was snow on the ground. The battle was about to break out. The soldier shuddered because of the cold and the fear that he felt.

Una vez, hace mucho, un colibrí entró a nuestra casa y no pudo encontrar un método de escaparse. Mi hijo tuvo que atraparlo con una toalla y cuando lo soltó afuera, el colibrí se quedó en su mano tiritando por un rato hasta que se dio cuenta de que pudo huir.

Once, a long time ago, a hummingbird entered our house and could not find a way of getting out. My son had to capture it with a towel, and when he released it outside, the hummingbird stayed in his hand trembling for a while until it realized that it was able to flee.

Cuando teníamos un perro, odiaba mucho haciendo un baño. Cuando oía el agua corriendo, solía esconder y cuando la encontramos comenzaba a tiritar todo el tiempo hasta el baño había terminado.

When we had a dog, she hated having a bath. When she heard the water running she used to hide and when we found her she started to shiver all the time until the bath was over.
