"¿Sabes dónde _ (ser/estar) la biblioteca?"
Ser is used to talk about permanent things.Estar is used to talk about temporary things.
My question is, what do you use ser or estar in the sentence above?

Ser is used to talk about characteristics of things, whether or not they are permanent.

Estar is used for conditions.

The sky is blue (ser), except when it is being gray (estar).

Bananas are yellow (ser)- for a short time between green and black in my experience

You use estar for something broken beyond all repair, or to say someone is dead. But ser to say someone is a child. Yes characteristics are more often long lasting and conditions temporary, but not always.

Location does not define something in the Spanish mindset (a spoon is a spoon wherever you put it, although one could argue Paris would not be Paris were it not in France). So you use estar.

There are many lessons available on this.
