adjective ( meticulous, thorough )

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

I believe it should be "las manos" since it's a part of his body and there's no ambiguity about who you're talking about, - Kuwabara, Sep 27, 2016

No importa cuán meticuloso sea y cuantas veces lo repase cuando escribo algo en español, todavía puedo cometer algún error sobre el que voy a decir más tarde “¿cómo podría haber hecho algo tan tonto?”

It does not matter how meticulous I might be and how many times I might review it when I write something, I am still able to make some error about which I am going to say later “how could I have done something so stupid?”

Sometimes being overly meticulous, I find I make more mistakes. - rac1, Sep 27, 2016
I think the same sometimes, natural instinct is sometimes better. :) - bosquederoble, Sep 27, 2016
It happens with my graphics. I can stare at my work for hours and still not catch obvious mistakes. Most of my graphics have mistakes in them somewhere. I need more than one set of eyes to go over my work. - Sassette, Sep 27, 2016

Los fariseos y los saduceos eran muy meticulosos en estudiar las escrituras pero no sabían que estas escrituras están refiriéndose a Jesús.

The pharisees and saducees were very thorough in studying the scriptures but they didn't know that these scriptures are refering to Jesus.

Si estás demasiado meticuloso quizás no vas a ver la imagen grande. En inglés hay un dicho " El no puede ver el bosque por los árboles".

If you are too meticulous you might lose sight of the big picture. In English there is a saying " He can't see the wood for the trees".

Here we always say, "He can't see the forest for the trees." Lol Same idea - rac1, Sep 28, 2016
yes, it's the British use of wood = forest , (not timber). Here in Oz we don't say wood for a forest, but sometimes do use that expression. - jennysk, Sep 29, 2016
