What does "Por eso" mean?

What does "Por eso" mean?

When I put it into the translator, It comes up with "that's why" and I was wondering if it had any other meanings. I'm often on the phone to my friend who speaks English but has Spanish family and he often says to his mum "Por eso?" and phrases it like a question. I just want to know the different meanings please! Thanks

The translator is correct. As a question, it means the same: Is that why / is that the reason? However, por eso is more common as a statement rather than a question.
