I was working in a primary school as a teaching assistant with 4-7year olds, at this time in my life. I remember feeling shocked and sickened by watching this horrendous atrocity on the news, not only because of its severity, but the scale of the devastation, and the loss of so many innocent lives! It felt like watching a nightmare on television! I couldn't take it in at first, it just didn't seem real!
When I first heard that a jet plane (the first one) had crashed into the side of the twin towers in New York, my first reaction was that I honestly thought that some pilot had accidentally lost control of his plane, but when I heard about the second incident I realized that this was no accident but an evil, planned act of terrorism!
Questions came later as I grappled with the reality of what I had seen on the news. How had these terrorists been allowed to set up training camps in the USA, apparantly unchecked and unchallenged? Who was monitoring these terrorists and how could the American security forces like the FBI, CIA and Homeland Security have allowed it to happen?
However, I also remember seeing and hearing about the oustanding courage of the emergency services, especially the New York Fire Brigade, many of whom also lost colleagues and family in this tragedy! I remember being impressed by how calmly all the emergency services worked together tirelessly to rescue every possible person!
It is such a terrible tragedy that people lost their friends and relatives in such a sick and brutal act of violence!
Thank you Dani, for helping us to remember those who needlessly died and also to pay tribute to the immense courage of those who helped to save people's lives, putting their own lives in danger to do so!
Jesus (Christ) said: "Greater love has no man than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends." John Ch 15 v 13 NKJV The Holy Bible
UU. Mirábamos consternadas, no podíamos dar crédito a nuestros propios ojos.
I remember I was in my office that day and someone phoned us to look at the computer, what happened in the US. UU. We looked at it shocked , we could not give credit to our eyes. Our heart was afflicted for each victim.
For me it happened another moving event. My niece was pregnant, in the ninth month. Hearing the news burst into tears and said: I should like to raise my child in peace and not in war.
I had just flown back from Bolivia to London via New York. I went to buy a few groceries and saw a crowd outside a shop selling TVs. I joined them, not knowing anything, just in time to see the 2nd plane hit the tower. I thought it was a film for a few seconds then I saw people crying.
It was the day we should all have realised what pure evil is. 29,000 more murderous attacks since then
The son of a friend of mine was on the Lockerbie Pan Am flight. WE had been warned many times prior to 9/11.
The first plane hit at 4:45 a.m. Alaska Daylight Time. My husband arose just after 5:00 to get ready for work and saw an online report. He woke me with the suggestion that I turn on the set in the bedroom. The magnitude of what was happening was lost on me at that moment, and I came close to rolling over and going back to sleep. But then something told me that I shouldn't do that. I clicked on the TV in time to see the second crash. Then President Bush made his announcement that we were under terrorist attack, and a half hour later the south tower went down, and our world changed in ways that we're still trying to process.
I didn't know anyone who died, just a couple of people whose flights got grounded. Nevertheless, I mourned right along with those who lost loved ones, as did all of America and much of the rest of the world. Evil left its mark on our world that day. I continue to hope that we might resist letting our anger take us down the path of evil; that we might instead let it sharpen our resolve to be a model of implacable fortitude and vigilance without hate or vengefulness.

No quería verlo otra vez.
It was my 57th birthday. I was working in the lab. Someone said that something horrific was happening in New York. Everyone went to where there were television sets. They had already destroyed the first tower and it was in flames but had not yet collapsed. We saw the plane entering the second and the explosion. And after a while the two collapsed. I did not want to see it again. I was desolated by the event and I couldn't believe that someone had attacked the US and killed hundreds of people.
I didn't know anyone killed or who had lost a relative or friend. I think that many in the world continue to suffer as a result of that day. I remember them with love.
A day of infamy that has changed our world forever .I pray for all those that died such a horrific and untimely death . "May they Rest in Peace."

Thank you to Dani for posting this.
I remember seeing it on the news that morning. Someone in the house said, "Oh no" so I came from my room just in time to see the second plane hit the other tower. I just stood there trying to process what I had just seen. It took a few minutes for it to register.
At the time I thought it was just a plane flying too low and crashed. Once I realized what was really happening, I must have been in shock, because I was just numb; I couldn't believe it.
My father told me later that one of my Aunts was there working in one of the towers, I can't remember which, but she did get out in time.
Then as the days and weeks followed, we learned a lot more about what had happened. The Pentagon and the one in a field. I remember the news showing people jumping out of windows from the upper floors that couldn't get out. It was horrific and still is to this day. I will never forget it.
We shall not forget the innocents victims of this outrage .
The Gold Coast Queensland ,for the U S A .

I remember this well, though I did not see it live.
I realise I have not written any of this in Spanish. I remember on 11th March 2004 going to an evening Spanish class and our teacher Hugo was upset. He was from Madrid and it was the day of the bomb at Atocha. La Oreja de Van Gogh sang a haunting song about the tragedy
