me puede traer OR puede traerme

Question

Hi Could somebody help and tell me if those 2 forms are equal and proper or differ depending on level of politeness/grammar. I cannot find the answer on my own

1. Puede traerme la cuenta, por favor ?
2. Me puede traer la cuenta, por favor ?

Either are exactly the same in meaning and formality. That being said, Spanish speakers more naturally put the pronoun in front of the verbs rather than attach it, especially in natural spoken Spanish, and English speakers have a tendency to attach it, especially when still translating mentally as it follows the verb in English, so that is when they think of it.

To me both convey the same meaning and the same politeness of asking.

If you want to sound very polite, change puede by podría,

1. ¿Podría traerme la cuenta, por favor?
2. ¿Me podría traer la cuenta, por favor?

In some cases, you can put por favor before the whole sentence, but that's up the person. It's not a big deal.
