This might be regional. In Mexico to do a simple mathematic problem it´s common to say, ie: "125 más 64 son 189" and "189 menos 64 son 125".

There are several kinds of add.
"Sumar" as in adding in arithmetic.
"Agregar"
"Añadir"
My suggestion is that you put these words into the translator to see which one gives you the meaning you want.
The translator does not give the one for matemáticas.
