Translating Interview Questions

Question

Hi! Im translating a set of interview questions for students into Spanish to interview a student from Guatemala. Can you please let me know if I made any horrible errors?

My translation:

1. Cuál es tu nombre?

2. Me puedes hablar acerca de las actividades que te gusta hacer afuera de la escuela? (Tienes películas favoritas? Programas de televisión? Videojuegos? Juegas algún deporte? Te gusta leer? Qué tipo de libros te gustan más?)

3. Cuál es el sujeto de la escuela que te gusta más? Por qué?

4. Cuál es el sujeto de la escuela que te gusta lo menos? Por qué?

5. Ahora, quiero que piensas en un maestro o una maestra que te gustó mucho. Por qué te gustó mucho? Que hizo ese maestro para hacerle un buen maestro?

6. Me puedes decir acerca un tiempo cuando hiciste algo en la escuela que te gustó mucho? Como un proyecto, una actividad o algo así? Por qué te gustó mucho?

7. Alguna vez has sentido como la escuela no es un buen lugar para ti? Has sentido incomodo en la escuela? Como no perteneces en la escuela? Por qué? Qué pasó?

8. Me puedes decir acerca un tiempo cuando sentiste frustrado o atascado con una pregunta o un problema que estabas haciendo? Que pasó para hacerte sentir así? Como lo arreglaste? Pediste ayuda a alguien? Quien?

9. En el mundo de tus sueños, como se ve tu sala de clase ideal? Por qué?

10. Es la escuela importante para ti? Por qué?

11. Si podrías aprender cualquier cosa en este mundo, que te gustaría aprender?

12. Que quieres ser cuando crezcas? La escuela te ayuda preparar? Como?

I know I made some accent errors, because I have an English keyboard and was too lazy to type the accents in, but its mostly just for me to read off. Thanks for your help!

As a non native Spanish speaker the questions look intelligible but seem to be translations directly from English. Perhaps one of our native speakers will answer. - Jubilado, Jun 23, 2016

The use of tú is OK if these students are children - otherwise you should use usted.

In #2 it should be "actividades que te gustan ...." for plurality agreement.

In questions which you ask if someone can do something, you don´t really want to know if he has the ability to do something but you want him to respond, so it´s more natural to say: Háblame acerca de .... rather than ¿Puedes hablarme acerca de ...?

"Pensar de un maestro rather than en un maestro - this is just thinking about a teacher rather than something deeper as in a relationship.

In #10 you want to know if school is important rather than "is the important school for you" so it should be ¿Es importante para ti la escuela?

We don´t say "when you grow" as in English but **¿Cuándo seas grande, qué quieres ser?* / and "...te ayuda A preparar .."

"¿Cuál es el sujeto de la escuela que te gusta lo menos?" LO is not necessary.

There are a couple of places where you forgot the tilde in questions and the ¿¿¿ in all of them.

The rest is OK and quite understandable.
