filtraciónes de agua

Can the phrase "filtraciones de agua" be considered as a false cognate (false friend)? I can't seem to locate it on any of the lists of false cognates.

"Las habitaciones estan en pesimas condiciones, hay filtraciónes de agua por todos lados, las sabanas tienen mal olor..."

I'm interpreting "hay filtraciónes de agua por todos lados" as "there are leaks (i.e. rain or another kind of water) on all sides..."

It certainly would not be "there is water filtration on all sides."

Is this a regionalism? A search of "filtraciónes de agua" on google images primarily reveals photos of water filters, with just a few photos of water leaks.

Yes? No? Maybe?

I don't know if the printed matter you read had the word spelled "filtraciónes" but this is incorrect. The written accent mark is not necessary in the plural form. It should be filtraciones. - Jubilado, Jun 20, 2016

Filtración also means the act of something allowing a liquid to penetrate it (liquid leaking through something solid), which is probably the case here. So your interpretation is correct.

Under filtrar the RAE gives various meanings.
