trigo candeal

I just bought some pasta that says trigo "candeal." I looked up "candeal" & got "bread wheat." I still didn't know what candeal was because I don't quite know what bread wheat means. After discussing this with friends, I finally found out that trigo candeal means "durum wheat." I'm just passing it along....

Hi, I believe it's the main type of wheat used to make semolina and other 'hard' pastas. It can be used to make bread, but it has less of the wheat germ of a typical bread flour wheat, but my uncle (a baker) says it's good for pizza dough!
