Finde o fin De semaña?

Finde o fin De semaña?

I recently wrote a sentence starting - no puedo salir este finde .. I thought it was a popular/ informal way of saying weekend.

I assumed it was only used in Spain.

Is it used in other Spanish speaking countries?

Is it used across a wide age range?

Is it a straight forward translation of weekend or does it have a more definite use eg only when chatting?

The sentence I used involved slang terms.

Hola Mardle. En España, si se usa finde en lugar de fin de semana, principalmente entre la gente joven .

Si se emplea o no en Hispanoamérica lo desconozco. Se utiliza tanto de forma hablada como en mensajes.

In my little corner of Mexico:

  • buen fin de semana: almost always
  • buen fin: occasionally
  • buen finde: never

Edit:

I should also point out that "el buen fin" means something very specific in Mexico.
