Is it Para or Por?

Question

If I want to say, "She was in America for two weeks." would I say, "Ella estuvo en America por dos semanas" or "Ella estuvo en America para dos semanas"?

For periods of time, use "por." For doing something for someone, use "para."

Other uses of "por" and "para":

In the phrase, "for that reason," use "por" ("por esa razón").

In the sense of "do something for the purpose of," use "para." (Example: "I went to the store to buy candy." "Fui a la tienda para comprar caramelos.")
