There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Do you dive or scuba dive? Either way, it would be fun. :) - rac1, Jun 4, 2016
I used to dive but cannot get a licence anymore so make do with snorkeling. - ray76, Jun 4, 2016
You have closer access to much better sites than I, Ray. :) - bosquederoble, Jun 4, 2016

Hay algunos gente muy valiente que ir a bucear con tiburones. Yo no sería uno de ellos.

There are some very brave people who go diving with sharks. I would not be one of them.

Hay gente que bucea a pulmón , mejor dicho no utiliza botella de oxigeno y así hace buceo libre.

There are people who dive by lung they rather not use oxygen bottle and thus they make free diving.

Nunca he buceado de verdad, pero he hecho esnórquel muchas veces, y mi esposa se ha acostumbrado a esperar en la playa, tomando bebidas tropicales, mientras sus amigas dicen "¿qué pasó con él?" y quienquiera que me acompañó regresa a la orilla y dice "lo perdí"- mi esposa simplemente dice "siempre vuelve, siempre vuelve".

I have never actually scuba dived, but I have snorkeled many times, and my wife has gotten used to waiting on the beach, drinking tropical drinks, while her friends say "What happened to him?" and whoever accompanied my returns to the shore and says "I lost him"- my wife simply says "he always comes back, he always comes back".

Have no fear, you will reappear. :) - rac1, Jun 4, 2016
She had a lot of fear the first time, as I will swim up and down a coast and not come to land for up to 4 hours, but she is used to it now. And now knows that I am capable of warm ocean swimming for hours on end. :) - bosquederoble, Jun 4, 2016
If something were to happen though, it could be awhile before anyone thinks to look for you. - rac1, Jun 5, 2016
True, but i could die driving down the road, I think the ocean is safer. :) - bosquederoble, Jun 5, 2016
And far more pleasant. :) - bosquederoble, Jun 5, 2016

Cuando uno vive cerca del océano Pacífico como yo, el buceo o bucear llega a ser uno de los deportes más preferidos.

When one lives as close to the Pacific Ocean as I do, snorkeling becomes one of the most favored sports.

A alguna gente le gusta bucear en una piscina más pequeña.

Some people like to dive in a smaller pool.

Hace quince años fuimos a Queensland para unas vacaciones. El punto culminante era buscear en la Gran Barrera de Coral. ¡Que hermosa era! Pero ahora las noticias es muy mal: la combinación del calamiento global y el fenómeno del clima que se llama El Niño ha blanqueado la mayoria del coral y se tiene peor que no va a recuperar. Es una tragedía para Australia y además para el mundo.

Fifteen years ago we went to Queensland for a holiday. The highlight was diving in the Great Barrier Reef. How beautiful it was! But now the news is very bad: the combination of global warming and the weather phenomenon known as El Niño has bleached most of the coral and it is feared that it won't recover.
