Deséame suerte.
Hi, I have registered for the DELE A2 exam on July 15th. I have taken one year of Spanish in college and two weeks in Mexico. Now I study at home using a textbook and various internet sites such as SpanishDict. I will also be taking the practice exam to figure out my weak areas. Any advice is appreciated. Wish me luck!

I am impressed. I have not taken the exam but did go to a language school in Mexico for a few weeks and got a certificate for my level. This site has some sample papers: Cvc sample papers and here is the site of an international language school with lots of information DonQuijote
My advice is to work on your Spanish every day. Try and find a Spanish speaker to talk to Go carefully through the syllabus marking areas you need to know. Verbs - I assume you need to know future tense preterite and imperfect. I learned the preterite perfecto early on which is easy but though it is used a lot in Spain it is less so in Mexico. Make sure you know the most common irregular ones eg hacer, tener, estar ser etc.
Have you learned how to do commands? I wouldn't expect you to have any knowledge of the subjunctive. Revise complemento directo y indirecto. It is so easy to muddle when to use le and when lo/la. Look at the use of adjectives. Make sure you know sufficient vocabulary to describe your every day life and give and receive directions.including some connector words. You have to join the vocabulary into a sentence.
The BBC has an interactive video called Mi Vida Loca with lots of additional information.
I enjoy Notes in Spanish - they have a sale on at the moment. Their podcasts go from beginner to Advanced. you can listen for free but the worksheets cost extra. They also have various free reports here: reports Most will be too advanced but you may as well bookmark it.
If revising by reading, read out loud you need to get your mouth ears and brain used to the new sounds.
This site is good for all purpose revision but he covers some things outside the scope of your exam.
Mind your P and Qs is a useful odds and sods.
Make sure you understand where stress goes on words. It is easy to fall into bad habits and not stress in the correct place. When you learn vocabulary learn la or el with it.
Listen to Spanish - have the radio on - listen to music eg Juanes, Mercedes Sosa, Manu Chao, Julieta Venegas. It helps with vocabulary and the rhythm of the language.
You need to be able to do the basics well. Most people have exam nerves so you need to have things you do not need to think about too much - introductory phrases verb endings then on your written test time to go through for missing accents correct verb endings and agreement of adjectives
Another good site is Ver Taal. It has lots of tests with answers available graded as to difficulty. You might want to try a B1 level but anything above is a waste of effort. I read newspapers and blogs but they are probably too advanced.
However there is an electronic magazine which is excellent and their articles are graded as to difficulty:
Post some of your written pieces and you will get corrections. Make it clear you are self studying.
Well done, Happy, I am sure you will do very well! ![]()
¡Espero que saques muy buenas notas con tu examén de español D.E.L.E, Happy! ![]()
1.It's very important that you give yourself plenty of time to sleep and rest inbetween study and relax and do other important and enjoyable stuff, too!
2 Make sure you have a good understanding of basics like the correct use of ser vs estar and por vs para. Avoid using personal pronouns: yo tú, él etc... unnecesarily. Remember that Spanishspeaking natives just use them sparingly to emphasize and clarify.
3.Give yourself time to learn and revise! Most people learn best by learning and revising new material over an extended period of time, and cramming in last minute revision (study) seldom works very well! However, you know yourself best, so find what works best for you! ![]()
4 Read the questions carefully in your exam and give yourself enough time to attempt all the questions.
5 If you don't understand about something you are studying in your Spanish, before your exam, please don't hesitate to ask in the forum, we are all here to help each other! ![]()
I hope this helps ![]()
After you have just taken the exam go and do something enjoyable with your friends to take your mind off it! Try to resist the temptation to analyse where you went wrong it can end up making you feel depressed .I know, I've done it ..infact, many of us may have done that before.
