My mom used to say this in answer to Que Pasa? I don't know if it is really the correct phrase. Does anyone have any idea what it could be and its translation in English. Thank you for any help.

Could altora be altera? It would be literally translated as (note, I'm not sure if there's an idiom):
What doesn't change (or alter)'
