I was watching a novella, based in columbia with English subtitles turned on. In the scene female approached a man in the car and greeted him by saying "Entonces" and the subtitle said "Whats up"..., the Man in the car replied "entonces" the substitles also said "whats up". Doesnt Entonces mean "then" or this some sort regionalism.

It´s a coloquial form of saying "What's up?". It can also be used for flirting.

It is used as if a previous conversation had had place before, and we were expecting an answer:

--Hola, María, ¿entonces qué?

--Hola, Pedro. ¿Entonces...?

wow....

"Entonces" doesn't mean "what's up"...

From my point of view, it should be translated as "so..." or something similar, because what I understand in that situation is that the couple are flirting.

Maybe the translators put a expression that it could be used in USA or UK in the same situation. I don't know.

Lol I'm not laughing at you, just the "entonces" meaning what's up and how surprised your reaction was. :) - rac1, May 25, 2016
:P sorry, I don't know if you are trying to tell me that "entonces" means "what's up". Maybe not literally, but the expression is correctly used in that context? - jmora, May 25, 2016
