Sheer guesswork, as I think it is a new created word, not yet accepted by RAE.

In RAE

http://dle.rae.es/?id=81ZgROl

cavernícola

Del lat. caverna 'caverna' y ??cola.

  1. adj. Que vive en las cavernas. Apl. a pers., u. t. c. s.

  2. adj. despect. coloq. retrógrado (? contrario a innovaciones o cambios). Apl. a pers., u. t. c. s.

I think it is a play of that word, essentially just changing an a to an i, since b and v are pronounced the same, although it does change the c sound, and using the equivalent of cyber to mean essentially the opposite of the sense of the above. In essence cyber-dweller instead of cave-dweller, to make up an English word as well.

Here is a quote:

Jesús de la Gándara es el autor de Cibernícolas, un libro que analiza nuestra relación con las nuevas tecnologías y cómo debemos gestionar su uso.

And a picture:

This is just a guess, and I only post it to stimulate more answers.

As this is now your third question can you add your level of Spanish and English to your profile? The country where you are based can also help but is up to you.

I am sure bosque is right and it is name for people who live in the fantasy world of the internet.

I would also guess the name Nicolas has been chosen because of the strange antics of 'pequeño nicolas' who gatecrashed/conned his way into various high places

pequeño nicolas
