When to stop using the subjunctive in a sentence.
Hola a todos.
I wanted to know that when I start a subjunctive clause, does everything succeeding it need to stay in the subjunctive as well.
Por ejemplo
It surprises me that some believe that this show is real.
Me sorprende que algunos crean que este programa (es/sea) real.
I know that after "crean" a new clause starts, but is it still attached to the subjunctive clause? What makes this sentence even harder to translate is that anything following "creer que" is affirmative/declarative (affirming truth about something).
So should I use "sea" or "es"?

I answered a similar question previously, and Julian Chivi agreed with me. Unfortunately in this case both clauses independently needed subjunctive, so it is not the perfect example for your sentence, but he agreed in theory with me that the presence of prior subjunctive does not require all following clauses to be subjunctive, and I think in your case it would be indicative.
So I would go with:
Me sorprende que algunos crean que este programa es real.
Still might be worth waiting for confirmation, which I know you do.
