Welcome to La Palabra Del Día

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. Guidelines:

Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Venus es conocido como lucero del alba. Tiene un tamaño parecido al de la Tierra, pero es más brillante. No tiene océanos Rota en sentido contrario al del resto de los planetas y su día dura un poco más que el año.

Venus is known as the morning star. It has a resemblance to Earth's size but is brighter. It has no oceans .It rotates in the opposite direction to the other planets and its day lasts a little more than year.

Pablo se durmió y soñó con un lucero de alba en Kenya, algo muy raro como nunca había sido un trotamundo. Ya tuvo que buscar su norte donde quiera que estuviera . No tenía ninguna brújula y estaba buscando La Estrella del Norte o quizás la Estrella del Sur, en los sueños no importa tanto, siempre hay que buscar algo que no existe, y así es en la vida real también.

Pablo fell asleep and dreamt of a Morning Star in Kenya, which was rather odd, as he had never been much of a traveller. Now he had to find his North, wherever that might be. He had no compass and was looking for the Northern Star or maybe the Southern Star, in our dreams these things don't matter so much, one always has to look for something that's not there, just as in Real Life.
