Why do so many English words the same in Spanish.
I was reading other people's answers. One in particular got to me.
I was in Ensenada Baja California speaking with a shop owner in Spanish.
I said something very wrong. When she pointed it out to me I replied "oh, estoy muy embarazada."
Guess I don't need to explain further. And, yes, I am a guy. And, no, I'm not pregnant.

Spanish and English have many cognates, mostly because English had many of its words derived from Latin, and Spanish is a Romance language (it also came from Latin).
