Daniela is telling you that you cannot follow cuando with an infinitive, and when referring to a future action, it needs to be subjunctive, hence salgas (or te vayas). Close the door when you leave (not: close the door when to leave).
You can convey a similar idea with an infinitive, using al instead of cuando:
Cierra la puerta al salir
Close the door upon leaving
Al is followed by an infinitive in this type of context.
Additional note:
If you did not mean it as a tú command:
Él cierra la puerta cuando sale. He closes the door when he leaves.
In this case it is repetitive/habitual action and you follow cuando with indicative.

Cierra la puerta cuando salgas, o cierra la puerta al salir. You can use both Of them.
