There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Pablo tuvo suerte, había un taxi esperando en la esquina.- Al hospital , le dijó al taxista.

¡Y dáte prisa! añadió mientras pensaba en como pagar la tarifa.

-Vale, respondió el taxista.

-Mi novia esta en punto de dar a luz, mentió Pablo-. Por favor, para a una florista, si hay una florista abierto a ésta hora.. Necesito flores o una guirnalda, o lo que hay¿ que piensas?

-No sé, Soy polaco.

Pablo was in luck, there was a taxi waiting on the corner. '' To the hospital'' he told the driver, '' and hurry!'' he added whilst thinking about how to pay the fare.

''Ok'', answered the driver. ''My girlfriend is about to have a baby'', lied Pablo. '' Please stop at a flower-shop, if there is one open at this hour. I need flowers, or a garland or whatever, what do you think? ''

'' I don't know, I'm Polish. ''

The party room was a beautiful sight, with garland hung on the walls just right, it would surely be a good night.

La sala de fiesta era una vista hermosa, con la guirnalda colgada en las paredes sólo derecho, sería seguramente una noche buena.

Matjam, poetry or not, the nouns and the verb have to agree. Nice otherwise. - annierats, May 13, 2016

Sacar un guirnalda de primavera de la del área de almacenamiento debajo de la casa ha estado en mi lista de quehaceres por un rato- esta palabra me recordó que todavía tengo que hacerlo. Mi esposa siempre tiene que tener adornos de la temporada actual, y simplemente sigue comprando nuevos si no proveo los viejos.

Getting out a spring wreath from the storage area below the house has been on my list of chores for a while- this word reminded me that I still need to do that. My wife always has to have decorations for the current season. and she will simply go on buying new ones if I don't provide the old ones.

One would think with the number of questions I have answered about why a feminine noun gets a masculine article that I could remember that. Thanks, Pablo. :) - bosquederoble, May 14, 2016
