I know if the trigger word (in main clause) is in past tense, the dependent clause uses imperfect subjunctive. But what do I do if the main clause uses present tense, as in my title, "I'm glad that your team won"? I'm happy about something that someone else did in the past.

Uno de los usos del subjuntivo imperfecto es cuando la acción de la oración principal está en presente [Me alegro] y la acción de la oración subordinada se produjo con anterioridad [tu equipo ganara] y no tiene ningún vínculo con el presente. Soy español y sabía como era la conjugación correcta en tu frase pero he tenido que buscar el motivo. raspberry

One of the uses of the imperfect subjunctive is when the action of the main sentence is in the present [Me alegro] and the action of the dependent clause happened previously [tu equipo ganara] and it has not any link with the present. I'm from Spain and I knew the correct conjugation in your sentence but I needed to search the reason. raspberry
