verb ( to scatter; to spill )

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

La noticia, desparramada por los huelguistas, era que la empresa cambiara la producción a otra parte con la razón de mantener bajos sus costos. The news, revealed by the strikers, was that the Company would shift production to other áreas in order to keep their costs in check.

Hola Don. You don't need to capitalize "company" :-)! - Jraider, May 9, 2016
No! It's Englañol! And... I capatalized "Company" on purpose. Think UFC or Makewon (Did I spell that correctly?) - DonBigoteDeLaLancha, May 10, 2016

Me molesta cuando de repente un temblor del mano me hace desparramar mi bebida. Más envejezco, más pasa.

It bothers me when all of a sudden a shaking of my hand causes me to spill my drink. The older I get, the more it happens.

Ayer los hijos nos visitaron nuestros hijos (para el Día de la Madre), y por la tarde se desparramaron en la terraza que limpiamos el día anterior, haciendo líos por todas partes, y luego se desparramaron alrededor de la hoguera del patio.

Yesterday the children visited us (for Mother's Day), and during the afternoon they scattered themselves about on the deck that we had cleaned the day before, making messes everywhere, and later they spread out around the fire pit on the patio.

Looking toward the bird nest (note the difference from the last deck picture):

Looking the other direction:

Looking over the edge at the patio (the leaf in the foreground is from the Japanese maple you can see in a pot at the far end in the picture just above. You can see I have not done the pressure washing down there yet.

That five-leaf plant in the foreground looks mucho muy suspicious to me. Just what are we growing here? :) - Daniela2041, May 9, 2016
It truly is a Japanese Maple leaf- as you can tell by the tree shape- although the leaf probably looks similar to the representations I have seen ow what you refer to. - bosquederoble, May 9, 2016
Which, if you notice the barbecue cover, I could legally grow, at least according to state law, if I wanted, but I have no desire to use that substance, I will leave that to other people. :) - bosquederoble, May 9, 2016
of, not ow, typo, sorry. :) - bosquederoble, May 9, 2016
Do you like the Oregon Ducks? - Matjam, May 9, 2016
Yes, I put one child through that school, it got a lot of my money. But my wife and I always enjoy watching them play football. :) - bosquederoble, May 9, 2016
I'd say 'Ayer nos visitaron nuestros hijos' and 'desparramar' doesn't sound good in this sense but it's okay for twotd :) - Pablo064, May 10, 2016

A veces, mi vecina me pidió alimentar sus patos y sus gansos. Era fácil, tuve que ir al cobertizo y desparramar un cubo de granos en el suelo.

Sometimes my neighbour asked me to feed her ducks and geese. It was easy, I had to go to the shed and scatter a bucket of grain on the ground.
