adjective ( resounding, resonant; tremendous )

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Hasta ahora, los esfuerzos para hacer que la gente cambie sus estilos de vida para impedir el calentamiento global han sido un resonante fracaso, pero si uno entiende cómo funcionan los seres humanos y sus sociedades, esto no debería ser una gran sorpresa.

So far, the efforts to make people change their lifestyles to impede global warming have been a resounding failure, but if one understands how human beings and their societies function, this should not be a great surprise.

Lol I'm laughing at the cartoon. I don't know how they cannot believe it. I think a lot of people don't want to believe it because then they are responsible to do their part. - rac1, May 5, 2016

There's a tremendous amount of hot air in the hot air balloon, this made it rise like a bird into the sky, but how come my boss doesn't float away he is always full of hot air?

Here are the characteristics of a resonant leadership but I do not think people can learn from this, it is more likely that they must be born with the instinct.

Does lock mean favourite? I've never heard of lock, except in forelock or canal horses that tow barges.. - annierats, May 5, 2016
@ annierats....Lock means: "A sure thing.", but in reality anything could happen. - Jraider, May 5, 2016
Yes, horses are horses, all over the world, in England we say a certainty, but well... - annierats, May 6, 2016

Las elecciones en España en diciembre de 2015 no han tenido un éxito resonante y la verdad es que casi seis meses después de ir a las urnas quedamos sin gobierno oficial y ya vamos a tener nuevas elecciones en junio pero temo que la situación se repita.

The Spanish elections in December of 2015 were not a resounding success and the truth is that almost 6 months after voting , we are still without an official government . Now we're going to have new elections in June but I fear that we may just see a repeat of the current situation.

Me gusta mucho ir a la Opera. Los cantantes tienen voces muy resonantes debido a sus entrenamiento vocal. A veces la historia de la opera es bastante tonta pero la música es maravillosa.

I like going to the opera. The singers have very resonant voices due to their vocal training. Sometimes the story of the opera is quite silly but the music is wonderful.
