Spanish 102 final
Any good Ideas to study for my Spanish 102 final? Thanks!

- Find out as much as you can (from the teacher or former students) about the content and format of the final, and concentrate on those.
- Don't wait until the last minute and cram. Study 30 minutes at a time, with breaks between.
- Do your studying aloud; don't just read and write silently.
- Study in a variety of places, including the place where you will take the final (or a place very similar to that).
- Turn off your cell phone, don't listen to music, and in general avoid distractions.
- Study with a group if the group is at least as advanced as you are, and serious. (Study groups should not be fun, nor an opportunity for you to share what you know without learning anything yourself.)
Welcome to the forum. Can you add your level of Spanish and English to your profile?
I am from the UK and hadn't heard about Spanish 102. I searched on the net and there is a lot of information and guides. I would assess it as a good knowledge of the language. From my brief reading it did not look as though you needed a knowledge of the subjunctive. jtaniel's advice is great and a good blueprint for productive revision.
You need to do two things:
- Consolidate your existing knowledge ie make sure you do know the basics eg irregular [common] verbs, use of imperfect and preterite, agreement and placement of adjectives.
Direct and indirect objects. Some useful phrases and conjunctions to lift your writing. You do not want to ruin a piece of work by clumsy or careless work and I assume you will be writing when nervous and on a time constraint.
- Try and improve weaknesses - you don't want to get panicked about this as I assume you do not have a lot of time but ask your teacher your weaknesses - you will need to demonstrate reading writing listening and talking. I know for example my level on talking is not as good as the other three skills. Then when allocating time for revision put say a quarter of the time to your weak area. If for example it is writing you could post a few pieces here
I find this Spanish teacher's page a good aide memoire - the P and Qs are helpful - but if you do not need to know the subjunctive do not try and learn it. I passed my first Spanish exam without knowing the subjunctive although we had learned the imperative.
Finally look to advice from your teacher. Do not 'play' at revision - yes I have done that. You need to focus but it is fine to take breaks and do something else. You could perhaps listen to some Spanish music when taking a break - but that would be relaxing time not revision
