There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. For the Spanish sentences, edit your posts according to the native Spanish speaker's suggestions. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Bright colors invaded the entry way inside the hospital as I departed. I thought, "that's nice: someone has hung a crystal up like Amy (my daughter) used to do." Then I left the hospital, and I saw that colors came from a brilliant rainbow that lit up that sad cloudy morning. I looked intently at the rainbow, which had all the bright colors that my daughter loved, and marveled that it had appeared just when Amy's spirit left us to go to her new heavenly home. + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ enter image description here

Even though I know the science as to why we see a rainbow, I always have a sense of wonder.

Como Jubilado ya ha mencionado la ciencia del arco iris, aunque no la explicó, y MStivers ha hablado del de la olla de oro, sólo voy a mencionar que también es posible encontrar un leprechaun (duendecillo irlandés), aunque mi foto no muestra uno, sino un niño en un bosque de helechos y árboles muy grandes. Sin embargo me recordó de a uno cuando vi esta foto en el periódico esta mañana.

As Jubilado already has mentiontioned the science behind rainbows, even though he did not explain it, and MStivers has talked about the pot of gold, I am only going to mention that it is also possible to find a leprechaun, even though my photo does not show one, but instead a boy in a forest of very big trees and ferns. Nonetheless it reminded me of one when I saw this photo in the newspaper this morning. enter image description here

The beautiful rainbow was the highlight of the cold and rainy day, as it's bright and vibrant colors welcomed the sun from behind the stormy clouds.

El arco iris hermoso era el toque de luz del día frío y lluvioso, ya que es brillante y los colores vibrantes dieron la bienvenida al sol de las nubes tempestuosas.

The rainbow arced high over the clouds as the bundle of spring flowers gazed longingly at the marvelous beauty of all the colors together.

El arco iris arqueados alto sobre las nubes como el ramo de flores de primavera mirado con nostalgia la belleza maravillosa de todos los colores juntos.

While driving to London I saw a full rainbow; It ended on the bonnet of my car during a rain shower.

Mientras que conduce conducía a Londres vi un arco iris lleno; Se terminó en el capó de mi coche durante un chubasco.

Después de una semana sin mucha suerte, un arco iris aparece en el cielo. Quizás sea un portador de buena suerte.

After a week without much luck, a rainbow appears in the sky. Perhaps it is a bringer of good luck.

Hay siete colores en el arco iris: rojo, naranja, amarillo, verde, azul, indigo y violeta. A veces, en Inglaterra los niños pequeños aprenden a cantar la canción del arco iris: "Cantemos de los colores de un arco iris"

There are seven colours in the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Sometimes children in England learn to sing the rainbow song: "Sing a rainbow" (Let's sing the colours of a rainbow)

Corrijan mi español si es necesario, por favor smile

Sabes, he pasado desmasiado tiempo buscando la olla del oro al final del arco iris. Me he dado cuenta de que es una olla como cualquier otra, pero de verdad, al final del arco iris hay una gran fiesta para todos. Te invito yo.

You know, I've spent too much time looking for the gold at the end of the rainbow. There is no gold on that site, but there is a fantastic party and everyone can come , I invite you.

!Un arco iris por cualquier nombre es siempre muy hermosas !

Pero dos arco iris son doblemente hermosa.

A Rainbow by any name is ever so beautiful !

But two rainbows are doubly beautiful.

Great picture, but did you give someone your vote to get a minus (-1) vote for your total? - Esteban_317, May 1, 2016
That is just a glitch. Giving others votes doesn't give you a minus vote. - rac1, May 1, 2016
Hopefully it will be fixed soon. - rac1, May 1, 2016
