desde hacía construct.
Hi guys,
I'm trying to understand imperfect tense and structure [imprerfect tense + desde hacía + expression of time], but I'm getting confused with the completeness of the facts in the statements.
For example:
El pueble no tenía ninguna lebertad desde hacía cuarenta y cinco años hasta que morío el dictator y se establecío la democracia.
Did village became free after all or not or it's not known?
Or:
Los obreros no recibían un sueldo decente desde hacía cinco décadas hasta que se formaron loc sindicados.
Did workers actually started to receive a better salary or not or it's not known?
Ievgen.

El pueblo no tenía ninguna libertad desde hacía cuarenta y cinco años hasta que murió el dictador y se estableció la democracia.
The village did not have any freedom for (since it was making) forty-five years until the dictator died and democracy was established.
Los obreros no recibían un sueldo decente desde hacía cinco décadas hasta que se formaron los sindicados.
The workers did not receive a decent salary for five decades until the unions were formed.
Both are in past tense, that implies that it no longer is the case, but especially since what changed that is clearly stated afterwards.
I fixed some spelling errors in your original sentences.
