tener que ver con (tener relación con) have to do with v expr

Tener que ver con is a set phrase that has to be learned:

Todo lo que= Everything that

"Todo lo que tiene que ver con amor..."

Everything that has to do with love.

Thanks Bosque. Idiomatic usage is always the trickiest. Just a question re wordreference: I love SpanishDict's translator because I can compare the 3 translations and often obtain a correct translation through hybridising the 3 ... - jellonz, Apr 26, 2016
... (although I find that "Show more translations" button they introduced maddening). I often see people referencing wordreference though and was wondering how it compares to Spanishdict? - jellonz, Apr 26, 2016
They have different strengths. Wordreference often has a human generated entry for phrases, whereas that is less common in SpanishDict- SD wins on showing examples in usage of single words usually though. :) - bosquederoble, Apr 26, 2016
Thanks Bosque. - jellonz, Apr 26, 2016

I agree with almost everything bosque said, except with... "Tener que ver con is a set phrase that has to be learned:"

How difficult is it to surmise that "Everything that has to see with love" = "Everything that has to do with love"?

I am hungry, I could eat a horse.

I have hungry, I could eat a horse.

Meanwhile, tener que hacer is also valid in Spanish (to have to do)

Que tiene que hacer este muchachito contigo? Father asking his daughter. smile

Me encanta esta frase.

"Tener que ver con" means "it has to do with"

For example. What does your problems have to do with mine?

"Qué tienen que ver tus problemas con los mios?"

Your comment has nothing to do with the lesson.

"Tu comentario no tiene nada que ver con la lección.
