Superlative comparisons

Hi!

I was doing the comparisons lesson, where Paralee said that the article needs to match the fist noun in gender and number, the example was: La música folclórica es la mas abburida , but what if l want to say that folkloric music is the most boring type of music, wouldn't it make more sense to say ''la música folclórica es el más aburrido typo de música´´?

Here the article wouldn't match the first noun mentioned, but it makes more sense, right?

I have no idea what Paralee meant by "the article needs to match the first noun in gender and number." You took it to mean the first noun in the sentence, but that's definitely not what she intended.

La música folklórica es el tipo más aburrido, which is similar to what you wrote, seems correct to me.

I'm latin and I would say "la música folclórica es el tipo de música más aburrida"; trying to organizing it the way you did, I couldn't make any sense.

Here is something to think about:

Este vestido es caro, y este es más caro pero ese que tienes es el más caro.

This dress is expensive, and this one is more expensive, but that one you have is the most expensive. Here the adjective is modifying the dress (masculine singular) so you use el.

I think that is what Paralee meant. But the sentence jtaniel gave is correct and confirms the idea you asked about - notice the word order in jtaniel's answer.
